How to Add a Proxmox VE Environment

Prerequisites #

  • A running Proxmox VE server or cluster.
  • Network connectivity between NiralOS EDGE and the Proxmox server.
  • The Proxmox API (default port 8006) must be reachable.
  • Administrator credentials (root@pam) for the Proxmox server.

Step 1. Navigate to the Site #

From the left navigation menu:

  1. Expand the Management section.
  2. Click Site.

The Site Management page displays all configured sites.

Step 2. Open the Environment Management Page #

Locate the Site where you want to add the Proxmox environment.

  1. Click the Action button corresponding to the desired Site.
  2. Select Environments.

The Environments page for the selected Site opens.

Step 3. Add a New Environment #

Scroll to the bottom of the Environments page.

Click Add Environment.

The Add Environment wizard appears.

Step 4. Select the Environment Type #

From the available environment types, select:

Proxmox VE

Step 5. Enter Proxmox Connection Details #

Provide the required connection information.

Port NumberProxmox API port (Default: 8006)
Root User PasswordPassword for the root@pam account

Note

NiralOS EDGE uses the root@pam account to communicate with the Proxmox API and discover infrastructure resources.

Step 6. Scan the Environment #

Click Scan Environment.

NiralOS EDGE validates the connection to the Proxmox server and discovers the available cluster information.

If the connection is successful, the environment is ready to be registered.

Step 7. Enter an Environment Name #

Provide a friendly name for the environment.

Examples

  • Production Cluster
  • Primary Data Center
  • Bangalore Proxmox
  • Branch Office Hypervisor

This name is used throughout NiralOS EDGE to identify the connected environment.

Step 8. Connect the Environment #

Click Connect.

NiralOS EDGE registers the Proxmox environment and begins discovering the available infrastructure resources.

Once the process completes, the Proxmox environment appears under the selected Site and is ready for management.
